Earlier this month the world witnessed a heartbreaking
fire raging within Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
I was there less than a year ago staring up into that
massive and awe-inspiring ceiling, and at the gorgeous
stained glass rose windows.
The day after the fire I received an email from a reader
asking if any of the poems in Rooftop Rhapsody
were inspired by Notre Dame Cathedral.
This is a great question considering poetry isn't always
self-explanatory. In so many cases what inspires me to
write something is totally different than what a reader
will take away from that poem. And such is the beauty of
art!
But, oui! The poem "Belly of the Exalted" was written
for Notre-Dame Cathedral .
